Biography
Trent was born on May 24, 1989 to Brenda Kay Phelps Ikner and James Samuel Ikner, in Beaumont. Trent was a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a member of the Wild Horse Mustang Club, Bike Life SETX, and Car Club Low Intentions. Trent thought of his brothers and sisters in blue like family, his passion for his work ran deep. Trent had a soft spot for his pets, three dogs and a cat, all were rescues. He also loved cars and motorcycles and loved to worry his Mom out by participating activities she believed to be dangerous. Over the years many people told her kind and protective nature would be perfect for a career in law enforcement. While in high school, a young man born with cerebral palsy, and in a wheelchair, let her know Trent protected him from being bullied and teased. Trent also cared deeply for his family, especially his grandmother who was his best friend and legally blind. When the new Walmart opened, he pushed her around the store and described every inch of it so she could create the vision in her mind. He often took her to Wahlburger’s, her favorite burger place. This is who Trent was, a caring man, a protective friend and loving grandson, this is how he should be remembered. Trent will be sorely missed by his family, friends and all who came to know and love him. Survivors include his husband, Taylor Ikner, of Nederland; parents, Brenda and James Ikner; grandmother, Delores Ikner, all of Vidor; brother, Shane Ikner and his wife, Jessica Ikner; nephews, Ashur and Ari, of New York; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; best friend, Sara Renteria and her daughter, Trinity; and fur babies, Shelby, Walter, Josie, & Ralph.
