Incident

Deputy Sheriff Terrian Bailey was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call near a local convenience store off Highway 18, near Hermanville, shortly after midnight.

Deputy Bailey was working to disperse a crowd that had gathered after a festival when shots were fired. He and a civilian bystander were struck. Both Deputy Bailey and the civilian were taken to a nearby hospital.

Deputy Bailey succumbed to his wounds later that morning.

The shooting is still under investigation, and the suspect is still at large.

Deputy Bailey had served with the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department for six years.
