Biography

Tanner was an accomplished and deeply loved man. To know him was to know how special and caring he truly was. He was born to help others and was an incredible father, son, husband, and friend. He found joy in simple things — gaming, playing Magic: The Gathering, listening to and playing music, and spending time with his son, J.P. He proudly served as a police officer for 13 years with the Bryant Police Department, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, dedicating himself fully to his community. Yet above all else, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family. Tanner passed on his love of Minecraft to his son and was always happiest when sharing adventures with those he loved. He tried to stay under the radar and let others have the spotlight, but his kindness and actions never went unnoticed. One small but memorable example was a letter of commendation he received after completely stopping traffic to help a turtle cross the road. That moment captured his spirit perfectly — he always put others above himself, whether people or creatures, and was a steady listener and voice of reason for those around him. We always joked that Tanner was a master of “verbal jiu-jitsu” — calm, patient, and able to diffuse tension with his words. What we miss most are the everyday moments: watching him play with his son, gaming with friends, and our family adventures together. We remember and honor Tanner not just for his service, but for the love, humor, and compassion he brought into the lives of all who knew him.
