Incident
Police Officer Talton Jett was killed in a vehicle crash near the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Adams Street while responding to an officer needs assistance call. He was rushing to assist officers trying to disarm a knife-wielding mental patient when a car moved in front of him. Officer Jett swerved to avoid the vehicle and jumped a median, struck a pole, and overturned. He was rushed to the Ochsner Foundation Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 3:30 pm. Officer Jett had served with the New Orleans Police Department for 9 months.
