Incident
Killed when the motorcycle on which he and a colleague were riding, struck a stationary five-ton lorry in thick fog at Dunkeswell, near Honiton in Devon, as they returned to their base after assisting at a community event. The lorry’s rear lights and reflectors were covered by its tailboard that had been lowered.
His colleague, Police Cadet Kenneth Northey, who was riding as the pillion passenger, was taken to the Taunton and Somerset Hospital, East Reach, where he died from his injuries the following day.
