Incident
Patrolman Steve Jakubowski was killed when his patrol car collided with a truck that was loaded with 28,000 pounds of steel gun barrels at the corner of Ransom Road and Ellicott Road (modern-day Walden Avenue). Patrolman Jakubowski had served with the Lancaster Police Department for 14 years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife, two daughters and a grandson.
