Incident
Patrolman Sam Webb succumbed to injuries he received in an automobile crash while responding to a fire on April 12, 1929. A vehicle had pulled out of the way of a fire truck but pulled back into the travel lane in front of Patrolman Webb's patrol car at Broad Street and Gaston Street in Savannah. He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with a broken back and paralysis. He passed away two days later. Patrolman Webb was a United States Army WWI veteran and had served with the Savannah Police Department for seven years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and four children.
