Incident
Police Officer Bob Hickey succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile crash sustained two days earlier while on duty. His patrol car was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Grove Street and Highway 11. The traffic signal at the intersection had been turned off for the night when the crash occurred.
Survivors
Officer Hickey was survived by his wife, two sons, daughter, six grandchildren, mother, and seven siblings.
