Incident

Agent Ronald Haskell succumbed to injuries sustained on December 1, 1969, when he was severely beaten while on an undercover assignment.

He was questioning an informant when two suspects showed up at the residence and started a fight. He was struck over the head with beer bottles several times and knocked unconscious. The suspects stole his badge and credentials and then drove him to the address on his driver's license.

Agent Haskell underwent brain surgery five times as a result of his injuries before passing away.

Agent Haskell was a United States Navy World War II veteran and had served with the Nevada Division of Investigation and Narcotics for six years. He was one of the first agents hired when the Nevada Division and Narcotics was created. He had previously served with the Reno Police Department for 14 years.

Survivors

Agent Haskell was survived by his wife, daughter, son, father, and two brothers.
