Incident

Deputy Sheriff Reggie Thomas suffered a fatal stroke while on patrol at Airport Way South and South Doris Street in Seattle at 12:18 pm.

He lost control of the patrol car and hit a parked vehicle on the side of the road. The passenger who was sitting in her car at the time of the crash died at the scene. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries nine days later.

Deputy Thomas was a United States Army veteran and had served with the King County Sheriff's Office for 30 years.

Survivors

He is survived by his mother.
