Incident

Deputy Sheriff Randy Eng was shot and killed in the 9100 block of Bellaire Boulevard, in Houston, while working a secondary employment assignment at a wedding venue. Deputy Eng had ordered one of the guests to leave after the man created a disturbance. The guest then entered the bathroom and was followed by Deputy Eng. The man pulled out a weapon and opened fire, striking Deputy Eng in the head and shooting the other deputy in the arm. The subject was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison. Deputy Eng had served with the Harris County Sheriff's Office for nine years.
