Found dead at his home having taken his own life, six years after he was shot and paralysed when, on 23rd December 1980, while off duty, he confronted two armed men as they fled an Off-Licence that they had just robbed in Yeading Lane, Hayes, Middlesex. Awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for his actions.
