Police Officer Norman Murkerson succumbed to injuries sustained the previous day while pursuing a traffic violator.

His motorcycle struck a pothole, causing him to crash.

Officer Murkerson was a U.S Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and had served with the Bainbridge Department of Public Safety for one year.
