Incident

Killed alongside his colleague, Police War Reserve Constable George Cuthbert Murray (a retired Police Inspector who re-joined the force to assist during the war), when the police box in which they had taken shelter, at the junction of the Quadrant and Wallsend Road, was struck by a bomb during an enemy air raid.
