Incident
Patrolman Michael Lynch was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend an intoxicated man who was firing a gun out of an apartment window. As Patrolman Lynch gained entry into the apartment, the suspect opened fire, killing Patrolman Lynch. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. He was executed at Sing Sing Prison on August 12, 1912. Patrolman Lynch served with the New York City Police Department for six years and was assigned to the 22nd Precinct. His expectant wife and 2-year-old son survived him.
