Incident
Trooper Michael Paris suffered a fatal heart attack a short time after conducting a traffic stop of an aggressive driver.
During the stop, the driver became extremely belligerent and aggressive toward Trooper Paris, who later informed a supervisor he believed the subject was going to fight him.
Trooper Paris began suffering chest pain and went home. A short time later, he informed his wife he believed he was suffering from a heart attack and asked her to call 911. Once EMS units arrived, he became unconscious and passed away.
Trooper Paris was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for 21 years. He had previously served with the Metropolitan Police Department, DC, for one year.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and two children.
