Incident
Trooper Martin Kerins succumbed to the injuries he received while pursuing a speeder on Southern State Parkway. His motorcycle blew a tire, and he was thrown to the pavement and struck his head. He was transported to Brunswick Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. Trooper Kerins had served with the New York State Police for five years and was assigned to Troop L and Valley Stream.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and a week old newborn.
