Incident

Night Marshal Martin Friedrich was shot and killed near the intersection of Broadway Street and State Street at about 12:30 am.

Several subjects were seen running from the area. Several days after Marshal Friedrich's murder the body of another man who had been murdered was located in Havana, Illinois. Before dying, the man was able to leave a note detailing the involvement of several other subjects in the murders of both Marshal Friedrich and of Constable Arthur Smith, of the Peoria Park District Police Department, on June 12th, 1922.

Night Marshal was survived by his wife and daughter. He was predeceased by a son.
