Incident

Police Officer Mark Stall was shot and killed as he and other officers made a high-risk traffic stop. Boise officers had stopped the car, and the two occupants refused to comply with orders given to them. The officers called for backup to initiate the high-risk stop. The two occupants again exited the vehicle and immediately opened fire, striking Officer Stall on the right side of his body, just above his vest. Other officers returned fire, killing both suspects. Officer Stall had served with the Boise Police Department for three years and had previously served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, in California, for four years. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters. He is buried in Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
