Incident
On July 7, 2006 Cst. Marc Bourdages and Cst. Robin Cameron, both from the Spiritwood Detachment, were responding to an assault call when they were shot in a gun battle after a 27 kilometer chase. Three constables were involved in the pursuit with the suspect’s vehicle at about 9 pm on a dirt road south of Mildred, Saskatchewan. One member returned fire at the suspect. It is unknown if he was shot. The suspect then left his vehicle and fled on foot. The constables, in critical condition, were transported to a hospital in Saskatoon. Cst. Bourdages had served with the RCMP for 5 1/2 years. He is survived by his wife, also a RCMP member, and 9-month-old son. As we start 2026, we can look back and note that we have been very fortunate to not have lost anyone in Canada to a Line of Duty Death (LODD) these last two years.
