Incident

A humane killer that was normally kept in the safe was near his body.

The inquest held at Reigate recorded an open verdict, noting a wound in his forehead consistent with a bullet being fire from the humane killer.

Inspector Chapman was due to retire the following year after thirty years service and was to take up a post at Gatwick Airport.

He was survived by his wife and their two daughters.
