Incident

Fatally stabbed during a violent struggle as he took action to protect members of the public after being called to Norfolk Street in the busy shopping area of the Gorbals, Glasgow, to assist officers attempting to arrest a mentally ill male who had ceased taking his medication and had already stabbed a Sergeant.

Posthumously awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery.
