Incident
Deputy Sheriff Lafayette Boulware was shot and killed when he led a posse to capture two suspects wanted for armed robbery of a bank.
The posse was met with gunfire as they attempted to arrest the suspects in Boley, Oklahoma. Deputy Boulware was shot in the leg and bled to death.
One of the suspects was shot and killed. The other suspect was shot and seriously wounded. He was sentenced to life in prison, but was paroled in 1931. Deputy Boulware had served with the Okfuskee County Sheriff's Office for 10 years.
