Incident

Deputy Director Kenneth Blunt was struck and killed by a vehicle while assisting at an accident scene on I-55, near mile marker 80 in Divernon, Sangamon County at 7:40 am. Another vehicle lost control on the icy highway and slid into the median, fatally striking Deputy Director Blunt. Deputy Director Blunt was a World War II Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, mother, brother, sister, and two grandchildren. He is buried at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois.
