Incident

Deputy Kenneth Perrigo was shot in the head and killed after he arrested two suspects for drinking in public. While transporting the suspects to the station one of them was able to pull Deputy Perrigo's gun and shot him. The shooter was sentenced to death. Deputy Perrigo was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Sheriff's department's SWAT team.

Survivors

He is survived by his wife, three children, his brother and sister, his mother and his father who served as a California Highway Patrol officer.
