Biography
Lieutenant Banish excelled through the ranks as a Trooper and at the age of 35 became a Lieutenant. He was known as a ‘cops cop’ and always tried to help and take care of his brothers in blue. Unfortunately, do to job related stress and politics LT Banish became overwhelmed and took his life. Joey was a graduate of Saint Bonaventure Universit y with a Bachelor’s degree in pre-law. He is survived by his mother Charlotte and father James along with his 4 siblings Jennifer Austin, Mary Perrilloux, James Banish, Michael Banish and their families. His brother, Jim Banish, honors him by traveling around the country to work with officers and programs that help them deal with the mental health issues that can grow out of the stress of the job.
