Incident
Marshal Sauer was killed when his patrol car was struck by a Chicago, Burlington and Quincy freight train at an unguarded crossing. The vehicle was thrown over 100-feet upon impact and Marshal Sauer was ejected from the car. Marshal Sauer had served with the Shelbina Police Department for 9 years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and three children.
