Private John Reed drowned when he fell from a boat while crossing the San Antonio River with his unit near Goliad, Texas.
Private Reed was a widower and was also predeceased by his son.
Pvt. Reed, On today, the 175th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Texas.
