Incident
Patrolman John Hahn was killed in a motorcycle accident at Washington Avenue and Stewart Avenue in Garden City. Patrolman Hahn was traveling north on Washington Avenue when a vehicle traveling on Stewart Avenue collided with him at the intersection. He was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to the Nassau Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He had served with the Nassau County Police Department for the five months the department had existed after absorbing several village and town departments in the county. It is unknown how long he had served in law enforcement prior.

He was survived by his wife.
