Incident
Died in Mercer’s Hospital after being ambushed by a terrorist assassination squad just yards from the new Central Police Station on Brunswick Street, where he was shot at such close range that his clothes showed scorch marks. Despite his wounds he was able to draw his revolver and fire one round before collapsing.
