Biography

Jerimiah Marshall Kohler, 44, born May 21, 1977, passed away on March 7, 2022, at his home in Denham Springs. The unexpected loss leaves family and friends stunned and deeply saddened. Jeri is a decorated US Air Force veteran who served in the Iraq War. After selflessly serving his country, Jeri served his community as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. He served in many capacities within the Sherrif’s Office, including being a member of the Honor Guard, a member of the Scuba Rescue Team, and rose to the rank of Sergeant. Jeri was an accomplished Deputy Sheriff and honorable Airman, but more so, he was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend to many. Jeri is survived by his wife, Joyce Vargas Kohler, his daughters Izabelle, Savannah, Leila, and Mya, and his sons Xavier, Ian, Brayce, and Korbyn. Jeri also leaves behind his mother, Sharon Lynn Kohler, his father, Stephen Peter Kohler, and his sister, Melissa Ruzylo Miner. When he wasn’t working, Jeri was dedicated to spending time with his family. He enjoyed scuba diving, cooking and appreciated watching movies in the theater with family and friends. We will miss the joy he spread with his jokes, the many dishes he prepared and shared with others, and his one-of-a-kind sense of style. But we will also miss his big heart, selfless nature, and the kindness he brought into the world. Anyone who knew Jeri knew that he was gentle, warm, and caring. He had a tremendous passion for helping others and was always a source of positivity. Jeri’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
