Biography

Supervisory Border Patrol Agent James W. Doyle began his career in the United States Marine Corps, 3rd Marine Air Wing, and served from 1980-1984. He was honorably discharged with having earned the rank of corporal. In July 1986, he entered on duty with the United States Border Patrol and graduated from the U.S. Border Patrol Academy with the 198th session. Throughout his 25-year federal law enforcement career, he was assigned to many locations along the southwest border in California and Texas. His favorite assignments during his career included being assigned to the horse patrol and being a firearms instructor. After dedicating 25 years to being a federal law enforcement officer, Agent James W. Doyle retired in 2011. After his retirement, he enjoyed many outdoor hobbies, such as hunting and fishing. His favorite pastime was firearms, and years later had been employed managing a gun range. Despite being surrounded by family, friends, and activities he loved, James carried the weight of the job into retirement and ultimately succumbed to his emotional injuries. His family believes that more assistance should be offered to officers and it’s important for people to understand that being in law enforcement takes its toll on an officer, even after retirement.
