Incident

Officer James Goodman was killed when his motorcycle collided head-on with a minivan as he was pursuing a suspect involved in an earlier accident in Redlands.

The collision occurred when Officer Goodman entered the intersection at Lugonia Avenue and Nevada Street during the pursuit.

He was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle Officer Goodman was pursuing continued to flee and remains at large.

Officer Goodman was a United States Army veteran and had served with the California Highway Patrol for 20 years.

Survivors

He is survived by his wife, two sons, two brothers, and two sisters.
