Incident
Whilst out walking his dog in the early hours of the morning Insp. Hazlett was shot by terrorist gunmen who opened fire from a wooded area opposite his home. Insp. Hazlett joined the RUC in 1950 and had been assigned to Dundrum in Co. Down before he was transferred to Belfast. He was later promoted to Inspector in Downpatrick, his hometown.
