Incident
Correctional Officer Jackie Pierce was killed in a single-vehicle crash on US 79.
He was driving a department van from the agency's central office in Pine Bluff to the Mississippi County Work Release Center in Luxora. He had just picked up food items and payroll checks from the central office when the collision occurred.
Officer Pierce was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and had served with the Arkansas Department of Correction for eight years.
Survivors
He is survived by his wife and three children.
