Incident

Sergeant Homer Harrison drown when he slipped beneath the surface of Silver Lake in the Town of Castile when his small boat overturned. While fishing, Sergeant Harrison's son fell in the water. While attempting to rescue his son, the boat capsized. His son was unable to be resuscitated. Sergeant Harrison's body was found hours later. Sergeant Harrison was a United States Army World War I veteran and had served with the New York State Police for 12 years. He was survived by his wife, daughter, and two sons. He is buried at Grace Cemetary in Castile, Wyoming County, New York.
