Incident

Detective Morrison was shot and killed by a youth he arrested at 2nd Street and Kenosha Avenue for tampering with an automobile. While en-route to the police station the suspect was able to gain control of Detective Morrison's revolver and shot him with it.

The suspect who was apprehended later the same day, claimed self defense at his trial and was acquitted.
