Incident
Officer Henry Everett was shot and killed by two burglars he surprised in a shoe store at 27 West Forsyth Street in Jacksonville.
While on patrol around 1:00 a.m., Officer Everett notified headquarters that the store was not secure and had most likely been broken into. He went to the back alley, where he was shot by the two intruders.
The suspects, ages 17 and 20 years old, were apprehended with the store's cash and a check in their possession. They were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
Officer Everett had served with the Jacksonville Police Department.
