Incident
About 4:00pm on the afternoon of 15th February 1922, Special Constable Stewart was fatally shot by a sniper at the corner of Edlingham Street and New Lodge Road, Belfast, while off duty during a reign of terror in the city.
His body was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital where it was discovered that his jugular vein had been severed.
