Incident

Deputy Sheriff Haskell McCoy was killed when his vehicle was struck head-on on Eastex Freeway, near the North Belt while leaving the agency firing range after re-qualifying.

The driver of the other vehicle was driving on the wrong side of the interstate and was also killed in the crash.

Deputy McCoy was a United States Army WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War veteran who had served with the Harris County Sheriff's Office for 10 years.
