Incident

City Marshal Gregorio Gonzales was shot and killed by a known desperado while walking to his home.

The subject who shot him was believed to have escaped into Mexico. It is not known if he was ever arrested or tried for Marshal Gonzales' murder.

Marshal Gonzales had served with the Laredo Police Department for eight months and had been appointed city marshal only two months prior to being murdered.

Whether or not your assailant was brought to justice he surely faced a much higher justice at a later time. Thank you for your service and please know that no passage of time will ever erase your heroism and sacrifice.
