Incident

Shot without warning and fatally wounded as he and a colleague on mobile patrol were questioning two men in a car they had stopped in a routine check on the A64 near Tadcaster in the early hours. The second officer was also shot but survived.

Posthumously awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct.
