Officer Welter was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to an emergency call near the intersection of 27th Street and W Street. Another vehicle turned in front of him during the response, causing a collision.

Survivors

Officer Welter served with the Lincoln Police Department for more than four years and was survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.
