Incident

Trooper George Emory was killed in an automobile crash when his patrol car was struck by another vehicle at 11:45 p.m. Trooper Emory was driving south on US 13 near Harrington when he was struck from behind. The impact caused the patrol car to travel 180 feet, hit a utility pole, and rollover. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after midnight. Trooper Emory was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and had served with the Delaware State Police for two years.

Survivors

He was survived by his parents, sister, and two brothers.
