George Douglas Althouse
Incident
Special Agent George Althouse was shot and killed in Inverness, Alabama, during a robbery attempt. He had stopped at a convenience store in his undercover sports car when a suspect attempted to rob and carjack him. Special Agent Althouse was shot several times and was fatally wounded. The suspect fled the state but was later captured by authorities. He was convicted of Agent Althouse's murder and sentenced to death. Special Agent Althouse had served with the Drug Enforcement Administration for two years.
