Incident

Officer Frederick Walsh was killed in an automobile accident while pursuing a vehicle southbound on Terminal Island Freeway. His patrol car left the roadway after encountering a patch of fog and struck a light pole. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries that night. Officer Walsh was a four-year veteran of the Long Beach Police Department and had served for five years in the United States Navy.

Survivors

He is survived by his expectant wife, son, and daughter.
