Incident
Chief Elliott succumbed to injuries sustained almost two years earlier when he was involved in a head-on automobile accident. The accident left him permanently disabled and he died from his injuries in December the following year.
Chief Elliott was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He had previously served as police chief the Southwest Harbor Police Department.
