Incident
Detective Frank Dailey and Patrolman Robert Hauptman were killed in an airplane accident while returning to Morristown Airport following a reconnaissance flight searching for a marijuana crop. During their return to the airport at 5:20 p.m., the Cessna 150 stalled and then clipped a tree and crashed into the ground at 9 First Street in Florham Park. Detective Daily was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had been awarded the Purple Heart. He had served with the Florham Park Police Department for over five years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife, two daughters, parents, and siblings.
