Incident

Officer Florentino Garcia was killed in a motorcycle crash when another car turned in front of him as he was escorting a funeral procession in the 3000 block of Canal Street at about 10:15 am.

The driver of the other vehicle was charged with negligent homicide.

Officer Garcia was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Houston Police Department for four years.
