Private Eugene Yoakum was shot and killed while responding to a call of unknown trouble at an apartment complex at 2906 Seay Street. The man who shot him was shot and killed by other officers. Private Yoakum was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Alexandria Police Department for 10 years.
